Dwight Howard trade fantasy analysis

Finally the Dwight Howard trade went down. As usual the end result did not have much to do with the rumors that had been circulating in this off-season. I personally am very happy with the end result, as the one thing I wanted to see in my lifetime was Nash playing with Dwight. Mostly because Dwight's best offensive move is the pick and roll and Nash is the best PG to run a pick and roll with. If Mike Brown cant win a championship with this lot than I hope he never gets a job in the NBA again ( no pressure :). So lets look at what exactly went down and who the winners and losers for fantasy are.

Magic received: Nicola Vucevic, Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Josh Mcroberts, Moe Harkless and pics.

76ers received: Andrew Bynum, Jason Richardson,

Nuggets received: Andre Iguodala

Lakers received: Dwight Howard, Earl Clark, Chris Duhon

 Winners and Losers

Orlando Magic

Al Harrington should be unaffected by this as he will still be a scorer off the bench playing minutes according to how hot or cold he gets. Pretty much the entire Magic team see a boost with this news.

Winners:

Nicola Vucevic-
Should be the starting center and receive at least 20+ minutes

Gustavo Ayon-
Could be competing for the starting center position or will at least play some more minutes there.

Glen Davis-
His starting stats for Orlando are impressive 16.4 pts, 8.8 rebs with 1.4 steals are impressive and achievable this season.

Jameer Nelson-
ill need to step up his scoring this season.

Arron Afflalo-
Is the starting SG infront of Reddick immediately, and Orlando currently only have Glen Davis, Hedo Turkoglu and Jameer Nelson to do the scoring for them. Afflalo will need to do more of everything and should be an even better pick this season.

Losers:

It seems to me that there are no clear losers here especially as there is a new coach in town, so everyone should have a chance to impress.

Summer league watch: Las Vegas

 Something to quench the thirst of people looking forward to the new NBA fantasy season.

 

Charlotte Bobcats

Michael-Kidd Gilchrist-

We only got to see 1 game of this kid in the summer league. But that was enough for me to say he will be just fine in the NBA. The kid looked like a man amongst boys in his 1 summer league game against the Kings and the stats agree- 18pts(58%FG), 8reb, 5ast, 4steals in 22 minutes. His defensive ability will allow him to get big minutes at the 3 right off the bat, and the hustle stats he is known for will translate streight into the NBA. He could struggle FG% wise as he has a poor outside shot, but he should be something like a mix of Gerald Wallace and James Johnson.

• I project something in the lines of 11pts(45%FG) 73%FT, 6reb, 2-2.5 steals, 0.5-1 block 1.75 to's

Kemba Walker-

Kemba had some impressive games but overall he still looked like a guy who will struggle FG% wise because he has a poor outside shot and is too short to get to the rim. He will help you out steal and FT% wise, but overall this is still a year too early for him to be a fantasy stud.

Byron Mullens-

Mully looked good in stretches, also dominating some games scoring wise. He will get plenty of minutes this season unless the Bobcats manage to sign another big body(not too many left). He could frustrate at times as he don't block too many shots or get too many rebounds and big's like him who score from jumpers have many up and down games.

Bismack Biyombo-

Performed really poorly for a second year player, not showing much improvement in his problem areas(offense, tos), will lose minutes to Brendan Haywood this year.
